Empanada

Empanada


Called pastel in Portuguese.
Many ingredient stuffed within a folded bread; meat, cheese, vegetables and others. 
Either baked or fried, and either served hot or cold.

Place of origin :
Spain, Portugal.

Recipe :
lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef 
medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes with mild green chiles, well drained
box refrigerated pie crusts
egg, beaten
